Delightful Baking and Sweet Treats at Oakdene

Our residents have been putting their baking skills to good use with some delicious kitchen activities. We enjoyed making homemade scones, as well as baking a tasty fruit loaf to bring a little warmth and flavour into the home.
Working Together to Make Delicious Treats
There is always something special about baking together, from preparing and mixing the ingredients to enjoying the wonderful aromas coming from the kitchen. These moments help create a sense of teamwork and shared accomplishment for our residents, while also adding a comforting atmosphere to the day.

The process of baking allows residents to engage in gentle, meaningful activity and enjoy the satisfaction of creating something together. A physical activity like baking suppports motor skills and hand eye coordination acting as a great way to keep older adults engaged at their own pace. It also gives residents the chance to talk to one another and enjoy each other's company in a relaxed and enjoyable setting, lessening loneliness.
Tasting the Finished Results
Of course, the best part is sitting down together to taste the finished results! The scones and fruit loaf were both a real treat, and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying what they had made.

At Oakdene, we value activities that bring people together and create enjoyable shared experiences. Baking sessions like this are a wonderful way to support wellbeing, connection and a sense of achievement. Our home is always looking for new ways to offer residents meaningful activities, from cooking and baking to creative projects and social gatherings.
