Keeping In Touch With Our Pen Pals

handwritten letters with flowers

Residents at Oakdene Care Home have been busy writing letters to their pen pals at Rowan Park Care Home, sharing news and keeping in touch with friends.

The pen pal activity gives residents the chance to build connections with people at another home, exchange stories and find out what others have been up to. Taking time to write a letter also offers a chance to reflect on everyday experiences and share personal interests.

Receiving a letter can be something to look forward to, bringing a little surprise to the day and providing plenty to talk about. Residents can enjoy reading the replies, discussing what their pen pals have written and deciding what to share in their next letter.

Activities like this help maintain social connections and encourage communication, offering a meaningful way to spend time and build friendships beyond the home. Everyone at Oakdene is looking forward to hearing back from their pen pals at Rowan Park and continuing the correspondence in the weeks ahead.

Find out more about our activities programme by contacting our team, and we’ll be happy to answer any question you have about care at Oakdene Care Home.
