Farmyard Friends and Easter Fun at Oakdene

This Easter, Oakdene was alive with the sounds of laughter, chatter, and the gentle shuffle of hooves as we welcomed a wonderful group of farm animals to spend the afternoon with us. The experience brought joy, nostalgia, and plenty of smiles.

Our full farm experience featured some very special guests – Percy the pig, Polly and Dolly the lambs, playful baby goats, and Honey the horse. Residents loved having the chance to meet, stroke, and even cuddle the animals. Many of our residents shared happy memories of life growing up on farms or working with animals, and it was heartwarming to see how being around them brought back so many fond memories. Honey the horse wandered calmly among us and offered a real sense of peace and connection, while Percy the pig quickly became a firm favourite, rolling over eagerly for belly rubs and soaking up all the attention. One of our lovely residents, Ruby, said that meeting Percy was the highlight of her day, and the smile on her face said it all.

Alongside our farm experience, Easter Saturday brought even more excitement as our activities team organised a wonderful Easter Egg Hunt for everyone to enjoy. Colourful clues written in playful rhymes led residents and their relatives on a lively hunt around the garden, searching high and low for hidden chocolates. This really brought out their competitive sides, and it was heartwarming to hear everybody's joy. To top off the afternoon, Remy made a surprise appearance dressed as the Easter Bunny, hopping from table to table, much to the delight of everyone, especially John, who could not stop smiling after meeting our friendly bunny visitor.

The Easter activities were about much more than chocolate and farm animals. They offered a precious opportunity for families to come together, share special moments, and create memories that will be cherished for years to come. Many loved ones came to visit their nanny, mother, father or partner, making it a truly family-focused occasion. Events like these remind us all of the importance of community, connection, and celebrating traditions that mean so much to our residents.

At Oakdene, we pride ourselves on creating a welcoming and supportive environment where residents feel truly at home. We would love to welcome you for a visit – get in touch today to arrange a tour and experience the Oakdene difference for yourself.
