Our Summer Fair Was a Huge Success!

The gardens at Oakdene were filled with laughter and community spirit this month as we held our annual Summer Fair. It was organised with great care by our Activities Team and Home Manager and welcomed residents, relatives and members of the public to enjoy a wonderful day together while raising money for a very special cause.

From the very start, there was a real sense of excitement as families arrived to enjoy the stalls and entertainment on offer. With nearly £400 raised for our chosen charity, Make-A-Wish, the fair was not only a joyful occasion but also a chance to make a meaningful difference. Guests were able to browse a variety of stalls in our garden, including a raffle, tombola and face painting. Children were delighted by the bouncy castle and games station, where plenty of fun prizes were up for grabs.

A highlight of the afternoon was our lively dog show, which proved to be a hit with everyone. Residents, visitors and staff gathered to cheer on the four-legged friends as they took part in the contest, with three lucky winners taking home a prize. The event was a true community effort, with our staff working side by side to ensure everything ran smoothly, while our residents enjoyed soaking up the sunshine, surrounded by their loved ones.

The Summer Fair was more than just a fundraising event. For our residents, it was a chance to spend time outdoors and with those closest to them. For the wider community, it was a wonderful opportunity to connect with Oakdene and see first-hand the warmth and spirit that make our home such a special place. Many visitors shared kind words of thanks as they left, praising both the atmosphere and the dedication of our team in making the day so memorable.

We are so proud of the success of this year’s fair and grateful to everyone who came along to support us. Days like these highlight the true meaning of community and the joy that comes from bringing people together.
