Fun in the Sun With Garden Games!

As the sun shone down on our gardens this month, residents gathered outdoors for an uplifting afternoon of movement, laughter and companionship, all organised by our ever-enthusiastic activities team. The event was naturally called fun in the sun and brought everyone together to enjoy fresh air, gentle exercise, and the simple joy of playing games with friends.
Our garden was transformed into a mini sports day arena, with a variety of engaging activities designed to suit all abilities. From colourful cones with hoop toss challenges, to a carefully set up mini golf area, and a weighted hoop game that encouraged gentle movement, there was something for everyone to try. The focus was not on winning, but on encouraging participation, building confidence, and enjoying the outdoors together.
It was heartwarming to see so many residents getting involved, sharing smiles and offering support to one another. One of our residents, Patrick, had a moment of triumph stood out for many of us. With quiet determination and the help of the activities team and his friend Janet, he stood up to take part in the mini golf – and he did brilliantly. It was a moment of achievement that lifted everyone’s spirits and showed just how powerful encouragement and friendship can be.

This event wasn’t just about having fun, though there was plenty of that. It also gave residents a chance to move in a way that felt gentle and safe. Activities were designed to be mindful of everyone’s needs, ensuring they could take part comfortably, at their own pace. Being outside in the sunshine brought an added benefit, lifting moods and helping everyone feel more energised and connected with nature.
There was a real sense of teamwork throughout the afternoon. Residents cheered each other on, offered kind words and even helped one another with the different challenges. It was lovely to watch friendships flourish as everyone got involved, whether playing or simply enjoying the cheerful atmosphere.
Events like this one help build the spirit of our home, reminding us all of the power of community, shared joy and gentle encouragement. A huge thank you to our activities team for organising such a thoughtful and enjoyable afternoon.
