Oakdene is located in the village of Three Legged Cross. The village is well served with Church, post office and stores, newsagents and stores, petrol filling station, public house and garden centre, all within walking distance. There are also local clubs and associations to which a number of those living at Oakdene belong.

Further afield are the towns of Ringwood, Verwood, Ferndown, West Moors and Wimborne.
